How to double cleanse
Step 1: Choose Your Cleansers:
- Oil-Based Cleanser: Start with an oil-based cleanser to effectively break down and dissolve oil-based impurities such as makeup and sunscreen.
- Water-Based Cleanser: Follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove water-based impurities and any remaining residue. This could be a gel cleanser, foaming cleanser, or cream cleanser.
Step 2: Tie Your Hair Back: Pull your hair away from your face using a headband or hair tie to prevent any product from getting into your hair.
Step 3: Remove Eye Makeup: If you're wearing eye makeup, use a gentle eye makeup remover or micellar water on a cotton pad to remove mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow before starting the double cleanse.
Step 4: Apply the Oil-Based Cleanser:
- Take a small amount (typically a pump or two) of the oil-based cleanser onto your dry hands.
- Gently massage the oil cleanser onto your dry face, focusing on areas with makeup or sunscreen. Massage for about a minute to allow the product to break down impurities.
Step 5: Emulsify the Oil Cleanser:
- Add a small amount of water to your hands and continue massaging your face. The oil cleanser will emulsify, turning into a milky consistency.
- This emulsification helps lift away the oil-based impurities.
Step 6: Rinse Off the Oil Cleanser:
- Thoroughly rinse your face with lukewarm water. Make sure to remove all traces of the oil cleanser before moving on to the next step.
Step 7: Apply the Water-Based Cleanser:
- Take a small amount of the water-based cleanser and lather it in your hands.
- Gently massage the cleanser onto your damp face, covering all areas. This step helps remove any remaining impurities and ensures a clean canvas.
Step 8: Rinse Thoroughly:
- Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove the water-based cleanser.
Step 9: Pat Your Face Dry:
- Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing, as this can irritate the skin.
Step 10: Continue with Your Skincare Routine:
- Follow up with the rest of your skincare routine, including toner, serums, moisturizer, and any other targeted treatments.
